I had previously hiked Nun-da-ga-o Ridge and Weston Mountains in a counterclockwise direction a few years ago. During that trip, I had hoped to hike the Crows as well, but I was running late with time. So a trip back was in order, and I had a beautiful day to hike as well. On my previous trip, I had brought my dog Dingo, so he accompanied me today too.

Big Schloss is a peak in the Great North Mountain range of the Appalachian mountains, with an elevation of 2,964 feet. The peak is in George Washington National Forest and borders Virginia and West Virginia. There are several different routes to hiking this mountain and Mill mountain. This was a neat hike. As with most hikes, there is always something neat that is discovered on the adventure; to me, it was the incredible views. I had traveled from Plattsburgh south down to this hike. While it's easy to get to, it is on the east side of Lake George, which takes a little bit of navigating. This is a post-election day hike. My son and I planned this day well, unlike the results of the presidential election. We knew that we had to get out into the woods and get away from the buzz of the election results. Blue Mountain, in Blue Mountain Lake, NY, was a great choice.

These trails are a system of various trails (30 of them) open to hikers, horses, bicyclists, and even small recreational vehicles. The trail network is part of a local initiative to give the community and visitors a recreational place. The land was donated to Elizabethtown by the Holst Family back in the 1980s.
