Yesterday, 1ADAM12, Flying Cow, Derek, and a gentleman whom we shall fondly refer to as "Other Craig" set off from Elk Lake an early o'clock with the Dixes in our sights. As with any proper hike, one person started the day with the sentence, "Oh, $%!^, I forgot (insert a critical piece of equipment here)."

This time, it was Flying Cows' turn. He forgot his nice shiny orthotics. After about 4 seconds of contemplation, he said, " Whatever, my feet will just hurt."

We started at the Science Center at 6 am. It was still dark, so we used our headlamps; it was a nice and cool morning, at about 47 degrees. We got to the first lookout (Marble mt?) just before the junction from the trail coming up from the Wilmington reservoir in time for the sunrise.

I opted for this route and mountains because I was getting back into hiking after being operated on in April. I had two vertebrae in my neck fused due to a disc impingement on my spinal cord. The Doctor cleared me…

We arrived at the Ausable club trailhead at 7 am. It was just Derek and me on this excursion. It was December 16, 2006, and we began our trudge up Lake road. There are often complaints about this road, as it seems to go on and on and seems like a monotonous trudge. It is nice to travel back down it at the end of a hike as it requires no thinking of where to plant your feet, unlike the trails where you have to step over rocks and roots. So basically, you just put it in overdrive and motor down…

It was just Derek and me on this warm November day. We arrived at the parking lot of route 73 at the Chapel pond at 830am and signed into the trailhead registry at 834am. It was the day before Thanksgiving, and there was no snow on the ground; today's high temperature was expected to be in the forties. This used to be unusual but seems to be the norm now, weather-wise.

What a beautiful day we had; life is good! I had the privilege of hiking with HOL, and what a fantastic person indeed.

We planned to hike this via the Calkins Brook trail, go over to Seward, then backtrack to Donaldson, Emmons, and the Calkins Brook.

We met at the trailhead at 530 Friday morning, signed in, and were off. The trail to Calkins Brook is a lovely walk-in, especially on the way back out. We arrived at the cairn for CB around 630, took a quick break, and were off. At around 23-2800…

We arrived at the Adirondack Loj around 8 am. Today (Friday, April 14, 2006) would be Mark, Derek, and myself hiking Street and Nye.

We arrived at the trailhead sign-in at 8:20 am and meandered our way down to Indian Brook, where we finally found a safe place to cross at 10:05.

We made our way up to the junction arriving at 1:40 pm after dealing with a fair amount of blowdown along the way. It was a short jaunt over to Nye summit arriving at 2:00 pm, with no views.
